Sessions

Our sessions are specifically designed to develop the mind-body connection, build a strong and balanced core, and support spinal alignment

STOTT PILATES®

STOTT PILATES® is a contemporary approach to the original exercise method pioneered by the late Joseph Pilates. Lindsay and Moira Merrithew, along with a team of physical therapists, sports medicine and fitness professionals, have spent over two decades refining the acclaimed STOTT PILATES® method of exercise and line of equipment. The refined method resulted in the inclusion of modern principles of exercise science and Rehabilitation – making it one of the safest and most effective methods available.

GYROTONIC®

GYROTONIC® is an innovative exercise equipment system and healing practice that incorporates movement philosophies from yoga, dance, gymnastics, swimming, and tai-chi. Each exercise is synchronized with a corresponding breathing pattern and is based on three-dimensional, circular, continuous flowing movement utilizing a unique weight and pulley design for resistance.

Motion patterns are natural, turbulence-free, and smooth with no interruption. Among its many benefits, GYROTONIC® exercise strengthens and develops core muscles, creates expansion and decompression of the joints, improves posture and spinal alignment, increases blood circulation, reduces back, neck, and shoulder tension, and enhances athletic performance and mental focus.

Our GYROTONIC® studio is fully equipped with:

  • Three Professional Pulley Tower units

  • Jumping-Stretching Board

  • Leg Extension Machine

Classes are available for private or semi-private duets and are pre-paid scheduled sessions.

GYROKINESIS®

GYROKINESIS®, the original mat format from which Gyrotonic emerged, is a full body movement and energetic exercise system developed by Romanian born Juliu Horvath in the 1980’s. This movement system is based on three key principles:

  1. Narrowing of the Pelvis: This principle, which applies in all positions (sitting, standing and lying down), facilitates the creation of space between the vertebrae. In a contrasting movement (i.e., a movement in which parts of the body simultaneously reach in opposite directions), the body’s energy spreads upward to elevate the spine while, at the same time, the legs and feet connect to the ground, spreading energy downward.

  2. The Fifth Line: The central flow of energy in the body through the arms, legs, and spine; the Fifth Line is not considered an anatomical reference, but rather a way to integrate the body’s own internal energetic support into the exercise experience.

  3. The Seed Center: The generative space where life force originates and returns to, working in synchronicity with the other two principles. This is the space that all movement is rooted in and begins with in the GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® movement systems.

GYROKINESIS® classes are available in group format with the use of a mat and stool.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga is a therapeutic style of yoga that utilizes props to make it easier for the body to get into certain poses, and thus, surrender to the pose. Practicing poses using props provides a completely supportive environment for total relaxation. The more your body is supported in the poses the deeper the sense of relaxation. Relaxation is a state in which there is no movement, no effort, and the brain is quiet. Typically, Restorative poses are sustained for ten minutes or for as long as you are comfortable.

TRX

TRX Suspension Training is a type of total-body resistance training that uses your own body weight and gravity, to build strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, core and joint stability, all while preventing injuries.

Yamuna

Yamuna Body Rolling™ was created by Yamuna Zake, Educator, Bodyworker, Herbalist, and Aromatherapist. It is a unique exercise system that provides health, fitness, and ‘massage’ using a series of 6 to 10 inch balls and your own body weight. Through a series of routines, you will work specific muscles from the insertion of the tendon, deep through the elongated muscle, to create suppleness in tight areas and optimize the range of motion.

Pilates Suspension Method

The Pilates Suspension Method (PSM) combines traditional and contemporary mat Pilates and equipment-based Pilates exercises and performs them on the suspension trainer. Each PSM exercise is Pilates-rooted and is also done in many of the traditional Pilates series. The PSM is designed to teach in a group or one-on-one setting. We currently offer weekly group sessions (4 people max) and private sessions.
